Seminars: Peter Hinterdorfer and You Jin Oh (Institute of Biophysics, JKU, Linz)

"Single molecular force spectroscopy and recognition imaging: applications in biology and medicine" and "Characterization of bacterial surfaces by scanning probe microscopy"

We invite you to the lectures of Prof. Peter Hinterdorfer and You Jin Oh from the Institute of Biophysics, JKU, Linz. The research group led by Prof. Peter Hinterdorfer is focused on nanoscopic techniques in life science, bio-nano-technology, and medical diagnostics. Their research interests cover structural elucidation, molecular recognition, and transport in the following fields: antibody/antigen interactions, bacterial surface layers, cells of the immune system, nuclear envelope membranes, virus/membrane interactions, transmembrane transporters, and structured sensor templating. This group was the first to study single-molecular interaction forces between antibodies and antigens. Prof. Peter Hinterdorfer invented the technique of combined topography and recognition imaging and done pioneering work in high speed AFM on antibodies.

Seminars will be held on Tuesday 25th April 2017 in room C4, building C, University of South Bohemia, Branišovská 31, České Budějovice

  • 13:05-13:50 Peter Hinterdorfer (JKU, Linz): Single molecular force spectroscopy and recognition imaging: applications in biology and medicine
  • 13:50-14:20 Yoo Jin Oh (JKU, Linz): Characterization of bacterial surfaces by scanning probe microscopy
