Bioinformatician

Laboratory of Fish Protistology

The Laboratory of Fish Protistology is looking for a skilled bioinformatics analyst who is ready to manipulate and analyse complex omics data. We investigate an extremely fast evolving lineage of cnidarians (Myxozoa) for which the -omics area has just begun (first genome from end of 2015) and the analysis of this data requires meticulous attention to detail as well as the design of novel algorithms for data analysis. We will need to develop and implement different methods of assembly, quality and contamination control, phasing, annotation and characterization of -omes including gene ontology and pathway analyses. Furthermore we need to carry out association analyses with sophisticated metabolomic and proteomic information as well as gene transfer analyses. We would certainly also require a certain level of knowledge transfer regarding methods and programming to students and postdocs.

We expect the candidate to be of postdoc level but younger scientists can apply if experienced in the field. We initially offer this job for 1-2 years but are seeking to permanently employ a bioinformatician in our laboratory.

If interested please email astrid.holzer@paru.cas.cz or fiala@paru.cas.cz and we can discuss further details.
