Postdoctoral position opening
in the laboratory of Dr. Alejandro Cabezas-Cruz
A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated and independent researcher in the Institute of Parasitology and University of South Bohemia to study tick-induced allergy to red meat, a novel tick-related disease, in the laboratory of Dr. Alejandro Cabezas-Cruz. The candidate must have a PhD degree in Immunology, molecular biology or related areas. Candidates with prior experience working with mice models of allergy are particularly encouraged to apply. Good command of English is essential. The candidate is expected to develop a model of tick-induced allergy to red meat (so called α-Gal syndrome) using the α-Gal knockout mice available in our laboratory. Once this model is developed, essential questions will be answered on the cellular and molecular mechanisms leading to red meat allergy after tick bites. This model will also be used to test novel treatment approaches to alleviate this syndrome for which no specific treatment is currently available.
