PhD students wanted in Tick-Borne Diseases

A postdoctoral position is available immediately at the Institute of Parasitology, Biology Center, CAS in Ceske Budejovice for a highly motivated and independent researcher to study tick biology and interactions between tick pathogens and ticks.

Position summary:
The candidate must have a PhD degree in entomology, genetics, molecular biology or related areas. Candidates with prior experience working with arthropod vectors or epigenetics are encouraged to apply. Good command of English is essential. The project involves investigations concerning epigenetic inheritance in ticks and the evolutionary significance in terms of vector competence. Work will involve the adaptation of assays in DNA methylation patterns and histone modifications.
The candidate will be co-supervised by Drs. Alejandro Cabesas-Cruz and Ryan O. M. Rego.

Duration of contract and salary:
The selected candidate will be offered a position till the end of December 2020 with the possibility of a further 12 month extension. The salary is 30 000 CZK (approximately 1175 EUR, 25.50CZK/1EURO) per month and this amount corresponds to a good living standard in the Czech Republic. Continuation of the contract beyond the 12 month extension will be possible, pending renewed funding.
