New book Insect Faces reveals the insect world in unprecedented detail

The book Insect Faces reveals the hidden beauty and incredible diversity of insects — the most numerous and diverse group of animals on our planet. Using modern microscopes, scientists from the Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences have created eighty unique images capturing representatives of all insect orders in unprecedented detail. These striking macro photographs of insect heads, along with drawings of their entire bodies, take readers on a journey through more than 400 million years of evolution.  The images are accompanied by fascinating facts about the characteristics, adaptations, and life strategies of insects.

This bilingual Czech-English publication bridges the worlds of art, science, and technology, creating an exceptional blend of aesthetic and educational value. It presents insects as a vital component of life on Earth, with the aim of raising awareness about biodiversity and the importance of its conservation. The book offers a unique perspective on the insect world that neither experts nor the general public have had the opportunity to see before.
