in České Budějovice, Czech Republic
Laboratory of Evolutionary Protistology
two postdoctoral positions:
- The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, molecular biology, biochemistry or parasitology (or related topics), with experience in bioinformatics, programming (Python, Perl), genomics and transcriptomics of algae or apicomplexan parasites. She/he is supposed to work on the search for potential therapeutic targets in apicomplexans and related lineages, with special attention to heme metabolism of apicomplexan parasites and chromerid algae.
- The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Parasitology (or related topics) with experience in the cultivation of protists and algae, genome and transcriptome sequencing, and assembly of genomic and transcriptomic data. Experience with methods of biochemistry and molecular biology is an advantage. She/he is supposed to work on organellar and nuclear genomics and transcriptomics to trace the evolution of an uncharacterized bicosoecid (heterotrophic stramenopile) and related phototrophic stramenopiles (Ochrophytes).
three positions for Ph.D. students:
The Ph.D. candidate (for a doctorate in Molecular and Cell Biology and Genetics at the University of South Bohemia, Faculty of Science) is supposed to have MSc (or analogous) degree in bioinformatics or molecular biology, biochemistry, algology, protistology, parasitology or related topics. Highly motivated candidates with scientific experience will be preferred. Candidates are supposed to work on the search for therapeutic targets in apicomplexan parasites and their close phototrophic ancestors – chromerid algae, or in the investigation of morphology, ultrastructure, life cycle and genomics and transcriptomics of various stramenopiles.
