"2nd Chromera Meeting"

Registration since 1.3.2014

We would like to invite you to participate in the 2nd Chromera Meeting taking place in České Budějovice, Czech Republic, June 22 -25 2014. http:// www.chromera.org
The meeting is organized by and for people who are interested in Chromera velia and Chromerida in general. Chromerida is a novel phylum that includes the photosynthetic alveolates Chromera velia and Vitrella brassicaformis, both recently found in corals in Australia. Analysis of ultrastructural characteristics, photosynthetic pigment profiles and phylogenetics revealed that Chromerida are the closest known photosynthetic relatives of apicomplexan parasites that cause diseases such as malaria or coccidiosis.

The rich program of 2nd Chromera Meeting includes plenary lectures done by excellent speakers, presentations and a poster session. These activities will present abundant, interesting information on progress in Chromerida research. In order to provide an informal setting for introductions and the discussion of science, we arranged a reception on Sunday evening. Additional discussion may take place during the Meeting dinner on Tuesday. For more information see the social program.
